Part-Time Meter Reader
Job Description:
THIS IS A PART-TIME POSITION
SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION: This position has been deemed a Safety Sensitive position and any person performing duties in this position while under the influence of marijuana or any other substance (legal or illegal) that could impair the employee may constitute a threat to health and safety. PLWC maintains a zero-tolerance for the use of any substance that may impair a Safety Sensitive individual. Consequences of a violation can be found in the PLWC Drug and Alcohol Policy Manual.
SUMMARY: Accurately reads customer electric and water meters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Re-sequences handheld computer after reading meter.
Reads the current level on electric and water meters.
Installs new meters.
Inputs readings into I-Tron so computer may calculate appropriate customer bills.
Assists other crews/departments such as warehouse, and service and line crews when needed.
Makes daily payment pick-ups from Post Office, drop boxes, and local banks.
Assists serviceman with connects and disconnects of service.
Assists serviceman with disconnects for non-payment.
Inspects meters and meter bases for loose connections and/or damage.
Driving company vehicle.
Other duties as assigned. (Duplicate)
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret simple diagrams.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
EQUIPMENT/PROGRAMS USED:
Frequent use of Itron (handheld computer), meter key, company vehicle, shovel, water pump, and visual tube for reading waters.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Arkansas Driver's License
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
The ability to handle customer's pets and being alert to various surroundings.
