PLWC’s Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is a state-of-the-art facility sitting on over 20 acres in Southeast Paragould. Its purpose is to clean used water from domestic and industrial users so it can be safely returned to the environment.
In 2002, the facility underwent a major modification that included the addition of an Eimco Carousel System and the biosolids facility. The biosolids produced by PLWC is classified as Exceptional Quality, Class A Biosolids which is sold to area farmers for application as fertilizer.
The WWTP also houses a laboratory to perform analyses on samples taken throughout the WWTP process as well as Industrial processes to ensure regulations established by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) are being met. In addition, the laboratory became the fifth laboratory in the State of Arkansas to be certified by the Arkansas Department of Health to perform Microbiological testing on drinking water to ensure the water is safe for human consumption.
